Armed police rush to UK town after ‘shots fired’ – 4 arrested | UK | News

Armed police descended on a housing estate following a “shooting” incident in Litherland, Merseyside. Officers rushed to Bowland Drive on Monday following reports of shots fired on nearby Fulwood Way.

Bowland Road was cordoned off and at least three police cars and a van were seen at the scene. Merseyside Police said they were called to reports of “shots fired”. No injuries were reported. 4 people were arrested for allegedly committing a firearm attack and were detained for questioning. A firearm was also seized.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: “We can confirm that armed police were in Litherland on Monday afternoon, March 23.

“Around 4 p.m., we were called to reports of shots fired in the Fulwood Way area. No injuries were reported.

“Officers are in the area to assess the situation and collect evidence. Cordons and roads have been closed whilst this work continues. Please avoid the area, we thank you for your patience.

“As part of the investigation, 4 people were arrested on suspicion of firearms offenses and taken into custody for questioning. A firearm was also seized and will be seized by the judicial authorities.”

Police remained at the junction of Melling Road and Aintree Lane this evening, and the nearby Leeds and Liverpool Canal road was also cordoned off.
