Chief Minister N. Chandra Babu Naidu on Saturday, April 18, 2026, stated that the Congress and its allies have betrayed women by denying them their right to get 33% seats in the parliament and defeated the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha and that April 17 will be considered a dark day in the history of India.
On April 17, 2026, the Opposition defeated the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026, which sought redistribution of Lok Sabha seats on the basis of the 2011 Census to expedite the implementation of women’s reservation.
