County Monaghan: Man charged over intercepted bomb in car

A man has been charged over a car bomb found in the Republic of Ireland.

The vehicle was stopped on the N2 near Carrickmacross on Wednesday as part of an operation targeting alleged dissident republican activities.

The man in his 40s is expected to appear in a special session at the Criminal Courts of Justice on Saturday evening.

A 25-year-old woman was also charged in connection with the same incident on Friday.
