Asda gives major announcement about free fruit in 426 stores | UK | News

Asda is inviting shoppers to look at the supermarket in a new way after major changes to its products, prices and overall in-store experience. The supermarket giant said the changes were designed to reward loyal customers and encourage those shopping elsewhere to return to Asda, with improvements shoppers can “see and feel” as soon as they enter stores.

Some of the changes are happening in the fruit and vegetable section; Dedicated grocery colleagues return to the aisles to help ensure quality and availability, while also assisting shoppers in selecting the best seasonal produce.

Families will also be able to get their children a free piece of fruit to eat when shopping in all 426 Asda Superstores. This section has been revamped with clearer information about quality and origin; Asda’s “new promise” guarantee has also been added, offering customers a money-back guarantee if they are not satisfied.

Another major change the retailer announced was the launch of more than 400 new food and beverage lines as part of one of the biggest product refreshes in recent years.

The new additions cover a variety of categories, including frozen food, baked goods, fresh produce, meat and prepared foods. Asda has also improved two of its most popular departments: fresh produce and frozen foods.

Meanwhile, the frozen produce section has been redesigned with clearer layouts and signage to make shopping faster and easier. More than 230 new frozen products have also been launched, including products from Crosta Mollica.

Hundreds of everyday items have been discounted to a lower Asda Price, while the supermarket has also enriched its Asda Rewards program with new challenges and offers for shoppers.

Asda has slashed prices on hundreds of staple foods including ground beef, pork sausages, eggs, baked beans and baby potatoes; Further reductions are expected in the coming weeks. The supermarket giant added that thousands of products were already priced below their equivalents at Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons.

The supermarket will introduce new £1 and £2 stickers in stores and online, while the enhanced Asda Rewards program will include new challenges and offers across fresh, frozen and general produce categories.

Rachel Eyre, Asda’s chief customer officer, said: “We know many customers are making careful choices when they shop and it’s our job to do more to support them.

“These changes deliver greater value and choice in the areas where they shop most and enhance the in-store shopping experience.

“As well as rewarding customers for their loyalty, they aim to encourage those who haven’t been to Asda in a while to take a fresh look. We’re sure they’ll see the difference straight away.”
