The New Year is almost upon us and so are the weather forecasts across the country on this big day.
The good news is that weather conditions are expected to be ideal for outdoor celebrations in most of the nation’s capital cities.
Whether you’re racing to make last-minute plans or making sure every detail of your celebration is perfect, this is the Bureau of Meteorology’s (BOM) weather forecast for your city.
Sydney
While the eyes of the country and the world turn to the fireworks display in the port city, those celebrating the new year in Sydney can expect a milder day.
BOM is predicting a partly cloudy day with a maximum temperature of 26C. It may also be advisable to take an umbrella and a light jacket with you as the day progresses, as there is a possibility of light showers in the afternoon and evening.
Melbourne
A slightly cooler day is expected in Melbourne, with a high of 19°C and a low of 13°C. The good news is that rain is unlikely according to the BOM, but expect some clouds come midnight.
