Panel visits Rajasthan town for probe into clash between BJP MLA, officials

An inquiry committee appointed by the Bharatiya Janata Party government visited Sriganganagar in north Rajasthan on Saturday, May 2, 2026, to investigate the clash between ruling party MLA Jaideep Bihani and some officials during a public hearing earlier this week. Mr Bihani was accused of assaulting an assistant engineer.

Three persons, including Jaganlal Bairwa, assistant engineer of the Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development Project (RUIDP), were arrested after the incident on April 30. Mr. Bihani claimed that officials slapped him and damaged his glasses during an argument over drinking water issues.
