‘I have to ask my team’: Moment Donald Trump mocks Keir Starmer with impersonation after roasting Macron over Brigitte’s slap

Donald Trump mocked Sir Keir Starmer for lack of support in Iran at White House lunch.

The US President made a weak voice, imitating the Prime Minister who said he could not send British forces to the Middle East.

Trump said he asked if Britain could send “two old, broken-down aircraft carriers” to help open the Strait of Hormuz, which has been closed to maritime traffic since the war began on February 28.

According to the chairman, Sir Keir replied: ‘No, no, no, I’ll have to ask my team. ‘My team needs to meet, we’ll meet next week.’

An angry Mr. Trump told the audience at the White House that the war could be over at this point.

The special event where Trump spoke took place at the White House during lunch and was recorded via livestream.

It is understood that the footage of the broadcast, which was closed to the press, was uploaded to YouTube by the White House for unknown reasons.

The recording was downloaded by Bryan Metzger, senior politics correspondent for US website Business Insider, who published the whole thing on X.

After doing so, the White House made the recording private on YouTube, meaning it was now unavailable to the public.

When the Daily Mail contacted the White House for comment, our reporter asked about the President’s remarks about Sir Keir at Wednesday’s ‘White House lunch’.

The president’s spokeswoman, Anna Kelly, did not dispute that he made the remarks or that they were made over lunch.

He said: ‘President Trump has made clear his disappointment with the UK and other NATO allies, and as the President has stressed: ‘The US will remember this.’

The President has been angry for weeks at Sir Keir for refusing to allow US planes to use British bases for sorties over Iran.

Sir Keir has since changed his mind but refused to send British troops and ships into the Strait of Hormuz, which carries 20 per cent of the world’s oil.

Its closure is sending oil prices soaring as analysts warn it could lead to an oil shock worse than the 1970s.

Speaking on Wednesday, Sir Keir again rejected Mr Trump’s demands and said ‘this is not our war’, adding: ‘We will not be drawn into conflict.’

Mr. Trump’s frustration boiled over hours later at a White House luncheon that was filmed and uploaded by the White House, according to Bryan Metzger, a journalist at Business Insider who posted it all on X, formerly Twitter.

The President drew a comparison between the Prime Minister and King Charles, who will make a state visit to Washington later this month.

Mr Trump told viewers: ‘I asked Britain who should be our best (ally).

‘The King will come here in two weeks, he is a good man, King Charles.

‘(England) should have been our best but they weren’t our best.

‘I told (Sir Keir) you have two old, broken down aircraft carriers, can you send them?’

Mr Trump said in a weak tone: ‘(Sir Keir said) Ahhh I’ll have to ask my team.

I said, ‘You are the Prime Minister, there is no need for this.

‘(Sir Keir said) No, no, no, I must ask my team. My team needs to meet, we will meet next week.

‘(I said) but the war has already started. Next week the war will be over… in three days, I estimate.’

Rather than appease Mr Trump on Thursday, Sir Keir called a meeting of 35 countries to find a way to end the war in Iran.

Sir Keir said he had recently signed a statement saying the UK was ‘willing to contribute to the efforts necessary to ensure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz’.

In addition to England, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the Netherlands also signed the agreement.

In his speech at the White House, Mr. Trump also mocked French President Emmanuel Macron for refusing to send warships to open the Strait of Hormuz.

The president said Mr Macron was ‘still recovering from a condition on the right side of his jaw’ and claimed his wife Brigitte Macron had ‘treated him extremely badly’.

The comment referred to a video taken in May last year, when the Macrons were visiting Vietnam, that showed Mrs Macron pushing her husband’s face seconds before getting off the plane.

In response to the comments, Mr Macron said: ‘Trump talks too much. ‘His words are neither elegant nor up to standard’.

The Daily Mail has contacted the White House and Number 10 for comment.
