Baby girl among four people killed in Derby A38 horror crash

Four people, including a girl, died when a car crashed into trees on the A38 in Derby on Saturday evening, Derbyshire Police said.

Emergency services were called to the scene of a section of the A50 between Toyota Island and the A516 at around 11pm on Saturday.

Reports say a red Hyundai car with five people inside went off the highway and crashed into trees.

It was determined that two women, aged 18 and 30, and a 36-year-old man died at the scene. It was determined that the girl, who was taken to the hospital, died a short time later.

All four were passengers in the vehicle.

The 33-year-old driver was seriously injured and taken to hospital for treatment.

He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

All those involved are from Leeds in West Yorkshire.

A statement from Derbyshire Police added: “The road was closed for a number of hours while emergency services dealt with the incident but has since reopened.

“The relatives of those involved in the accident have been informed and are being supported by specialist teams. Our thoughts are with them at this most troubling time. We would like to ask anyone who witnessed the accident to come forward.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who has any dashcam footage that may have captured the incident. Information can be passed to us using one of the methods below and please quote incident number 26*442464.”
