Assam election results LIVE: Early trends show NDA ahead in State

A total of 722 candidates, 59 of whom were women, competed in the April 9 elections.
Besides Himanta Sarma and Gaurav Gogoi, there are Ministers Pijush Hazarika, Jayanta Malla Baruah, Ashok Singhal and Ranoj Pegu (BJP), Debabrata Saikia (Congress), All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Maulana Badruddin Ajmal, Raijor Dal president Akhil Gogoi, Asom Gana Parishad president Atul Bora, Assam Jatiya Parishad president in the fray. Lurinjyoti Gogoi and United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) chief Pramod Boro.
AIUDF and UPPL did not side with either the BJP or the Congress in the elections.
Congress fielded the highest number of candidates with 99 candidates, followed by BJP (90), AIUDF (30), AGP (26) and UPPL (19).
There are a total of 2,50,54,463 voters in Assam, including 1,25,31,552 men, 1,25,22,593 women and 318 transgender voters.
