Assembly Elections 2026 LIVE: Bengal faced decade of lawlessness, says PM Modi

AIADMK candidate R. Santhanakrishnan and fledgling TVK’s VS Babu are locked in a bitter triangular contest with DMK chief and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, contesting for the fourth time from Chennai’s Kolathur Assembly constituency.

While Santhanakrishnan and Babu are no novices in the electoral fray, they are up against Stalin, who took home the win from Kolathur in the 2011, 2016 and 2021 Assembly elections and has established the seat as his stronghold.

Despite the high risks, both Santhanakrishnan and Babu are actively campaigning in this constituency in North Chennai; here Stalin launched several innovative initiatives, including Mudhalvar Padaippagam, a co-working space and learning centre, which was copied in other constituencies across the state.
