Victoria Theilvig, the first Dane to win the top title, stormed out of the Miss Universe delegates’ flying ceremony at her hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, after the boss berated Melissa Flores Bosch in front of dozens of other beauty queens.
Justifying her protest against the demonstration authority, 21-year-old Theilvig said: ‘This is about women’s rights.’
‘Throwing another girl away is beyond disrespectful and unlike anything I’ve ever done. So I grab my jacket and go.’
The unprecedented incident occurred during the event’s live-streamed ceremony; Miss Universe Organization Vice President for Asia and Oceania Nawat Itsaragrisil confronted Bosch over her failure to attend a sponsor shoot earlier that day.
In the footage posted on the official Miss Universe Thailand Facebook page, Nawat asked Bosch to stand in front of the cameras and ‘explain herself’, then instructed security personnel to escort her out of the hotel after she insisted on ‘using my voice’.
Several of the contestants stood up from their seats to storm out of the room, sparking a mass revolt in support of the beauty queen.

Theilvig, who defeated Miss Nigeria at the 73rd pageant held in Mexico City last year, was one of the queens who stormed out of the ceremony and was later seen in footage announcing that she would not be staying at the ceremony.
‘We respect everyone, but things cannot be done this way,’ he said.
The clip was shared on social media and quickly gained traction online, as well as praise from other women and delegates.

Following the incident, Theilvig uploaded a photo of herself and Bosch on the Miss Universe stage, along with a message of support.
‘Forever proud of my @fatimaboschfdz,’ she wrote.
‘Advocating for yourself isn’t always easy, but it’s one of the most important acts of self-esteem and strength you can show.
‘This means knowing your worth, setting boundaries, and not letting anyone or anything undermine your voice or value.
‘It’s about accepting that you have the right to be heard, express your ideas and pursue your dreams despite the obstacles that may come your way.
‘Enough is enough, our voices will be heard loud and clear!’
The Miss Universe Organization, now owned by Thailand-based JKN Global Group, is facing increasing criticism over transparency and treatment of contestants.

However, since it was revealed that Luaces is the daughter of Univision host Lili Estefan, many were skeptical of Luaces’ win.
His uncle Emilio Estefan is a music producer and businessman, and his aunt is the famous singer Gloria Estefan.
Lili, Gloria and Emilio were born in Cuba, while Luaces grew up in Miami.
His mother is estimated to have a net worth of approximately 500 million dollars.
Many even contacted the authorities Miss Universe Cuba Instagram page to air their grievances, some even claimed it was ‘rigged’ due to the ‘nepo baby’ win.
