Congress encouraging infiltrators: PM Modi at a rally in BJP-ruled Assam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again taken a hard line on “infiltration from Bangladesh” and attacked the Congress, saying the party wanted to plant Bangladeshi spies in Assam to strengthen its vote bank.
Addressing a public meeting in Namrup in Assam, the Prime Minister accused the Congress of encouraging ‘anti-national’ activities of infiltrators. “Illegal infiltrators are closer to them as they have strengthened their vote bank. The Congress is more interested in votes, power and governments than the pride of Assamese identity. It was the Congress that planted these illegal infiltrators and now it is protecting them. This is why the Congress is against cleaning of voter rolls. They are more interested in appeasement politics.”
On Saturday, Modi alleged: “In Bengal and Assam, the Congress supported infiltrators. It conspired to change the demography of Assam.”
