The heavy railway network, which carries a large part of Sydney’s train passengers, is generally considered as the poor child of the system compared to tens of billions of pumped to build new metro railway lines.
The government said it would go to drainage of $ 423 million extra rail runways, upgrade their signals, fire wiring and flooded areas.
This will be spent slightly above this financial year. This financial year is also spent on rapid repairs in high priority areas, a reliability program of $ 35 million, including overhead wiring, runway, signal and power systems.
As part of a maintenance revision, Sydney trains will declare “maintenance critical regions” starting from the Homebush-Strathfield corridor where multiple lines meet.
The railway operator will go to time -based risk by targeting areas with the largest impact on network reliability. One of the two new Rapid incident intervention teams will be established in Redfern and the next hours, one in the end of this year.
