Attempted murder arrest after woman stabbed at crematorium in Blackpool

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was stabbed at a crematorium.
Police were called to Carleton Crematorium in Blackpool at around 6.45pm on Tuesday to reports of an assault.
A woman in her 30s suffered multiple stab wounds and was taken to hospital before being released.
Police said a man in his 30s was arrested in nearby Low Moor Road shortly after the incident and remains in custody.
Police added that the victim and the suspect knew each other.
Detective Inspector Chris Hammond, of Blackpool police, said: “This attack caused a number of injuries to the victim and it is only a matter of luck that he is not more seriously injured or even killed.
“Although we have arrested one person, our investigations are continuing and I would appeal to anyone who can help to come forward and speak to us.
“I would particularly like to speak to anyone who personally witnessed the incident or has any footage such as CCTV, dashcam, ringtone or mobile phone. This could be from around the crematorium or between the crematorium and the Low Moor Road area.
“We have a team of detectives working on this investigation and people may see us outside today as we go about our business. If you have any information or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us and speak.”
