Aubrey Plaza announced that she is pregnant with her first child.
Appearing on the “Smartless” podcast, the “Parks and Recreation” star recalled how birth control pills may have contributed to her past medical traumas, including a stroke she suffered when she was 20.
When the hosts asked if Plaza would still practice birth control, she nonchalantly admitted: “There’s a baby inside me.”

Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes were surprised when the “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” actress said, “There’s a baby inside me right now.”
“Today was a big day. I went to the doctor today and my dog went to the doctor too,” he recalled. “My dog is being scanned right now, I’ve been scanned before. I’m not kidding.”

“She had to get an ultrasound on her belly, and then I had an ultrasound on my belly, and there’s a baby inside.”
Plaza, 41, who is dating actor Christopher Abbott, admitted she was excited to become a mother and “always wanted to see what it was about.”
“It looks very interesting,” he said.

Earlier in the podcast, Plaza detailed how having a stroke in college affected her life in multiple ways.
“It literally happened in the middle of a sentence, out of nowhere,” Plaza said. “This is a terrible story.”
“I took my sisters to the Hilary Duff concert the night before, and you know how it is. I felt normal. I still had my coat on. I walked into my friend’s apartment in Astoria to have lunch with them and I was telling them about the Hilary Duff concert.”
Plaza began experiencing symptoms of a stroke while chanting the “Come Clean” singer’s name.
“I was and it was like… the first thing that happened was like my right arm went numb, I looked down and I was confused,” he said. “I wasn’t slurring, but I was looking at my arm as if it wasn’t my arm. It wasn’t even numb, it just wasn’t connected to my body.”

Plaza said he “fainted” for a moment and when he came to, he could not speak due to a blood clot stuck in his “language center.”
“It was like not slurring; it was like not speaking, but I could understand everything,” he recalled.

His medical drama remains a mystery.
Plaza said he believes birth control medications may have contributed to the stroke.
“It was the only thing I put in my body,” he said. “As if I wasn’t doing drugs or doing anything weird.”

He added: “It really happened by chance, and to this day, like I still have to, you know, every time I go to the doctor, I have to fill out my history and… I saw top neurologists, got tested for all the blood disorders, clotting disorders, everything.”
Plaza said the stroke affected her perspective on spirituality “100 million percent.”

“I grew up very Catholic. I went to an all-girls Catholic school my whole life, and so my spirituality was very tied to the saints and God and Jesus and, you know, things like that.”
He added, “I feel like I’ve always been a spiritual person, you know. Now I’m more into the dark arts, you know?”

The pregnancy announcement comes more than a year after Plaza’s estranged husband, director Jeff Baena, died by suicide. He was 47 years old.
Fox News Digital confirmed that the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call in Los Angeles on January 3 where a victim was reported dead at the scene.

Baena’s representative referred Fox News Digital to a statement originally shared With Deadline. “The family is devastated and asks for privacy at this difficult time,” the statement said. The statement was included.
The couple kept their relationship secret after meeting in 2011. It’s unclear when they’ll tie the knot, but Plaza confirmed the couple’s 2021 wedding status in an Instagram post.
