Aussie actor Hugh Jackman throws support behind Western Sydney relaunching performing arts degree after 18-year hiatus
Australian actor Hugh Jackman supported the return of a prestigious acting program at the University of Western Sydney in 2026.
The university will bring back his license to Actors Center Australia (ACA), where Jackman graduated from 18 years later.
The new program is preparing to offer industry relevant experiences and develop Nepean’s legacy after graduates such as Joel Edgerton and Celeste Barber.
The partnership was announced on the South Campus of WSU, attended by Professor George Williams, Vice President and President of the University, along with ACA President David Chiem.
The program will be delivered to the participants by the School of Humanities and Communication Arts in partnership with ACA and will withstand the Kingswood campus from 1, 2026.
“This partnership between Actors Center Australia and Western Sydney University is a game exchanger for the Australian art education sector, Jack said Jackman.
“I am a graduate of the actor center, and both of these institutions will only create an educational environment for the development of students and enter the industry above industrial standards.”
Prof Williams said that the initiative will continue to support new generation creativity.
“Western Sydney is proud to produce the world’s leading creative artists, and this investment made by the university accepts that our region deserves its own private, world -class performing arts program.”
“This turning point program honors the heritage of theater Nepean, and when it is combined with ACA’s industrial -oriented education model, it will produce high -quality graduates ready for the demands of today’s exciting creative industries.”
The degree is set to include 20 dense core subjects based on stage and screen performance with four -elective course.
“It combines the traditional acting technique with the opportunity to learn from the latest information from performance researches, including performance, industry expertise and neuroscience and cognitive studies, in a university statement.
Students will be accepted in a process based on audition and access premium facilities, industry cooperation, internships and prepared mentoring.
