Zelenskyy Hopes For ‘Dignified End’ As Ukraine Begins Peace Talks With US | World News

A high-level Ukrainian delegation will meet with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff on Sunday (local time) to discuss the US peace plan to end Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Presidential advisor Jaresh Kushner will also hold talks with Ukrainian officials in Florida, highlighting Washington’s diplomatic pressure on the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Sunday that an “honorable end” to the war was possible if the United States took a constructive approach.

The Ukrainian delegation is headed by Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. Zelenskyy had previously said that the task of the delegation was to quickly and fundamentally resolve the steps needed to end the war.

This came after Zelenskyy accused Russia of launching “some 36 missiles and nearly 600 drones against ordinary life”, killing at least three people and injuring dozens.
According to CNN, Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously said that the US plan to end the conflict “could form the basis of future agreements.”
However, Putin warned that if Kiev does not withdraw, Russia will use force to seize more territory.
While speaking to reporters in Kyrgyzstan’s Bishkek on Thursday, Putin confirmed that the Kremlin expects a US delegation led by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to visit Moscow next week, according to CNN.
The Russian President claimed the Kremlin was ready for a “serious discussion”. However, he reiterated that the conflict can only end with the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the occupied territories.
