The U.S. men’s national team wasted little time in getting on the scoreboard once again.
Auston Trusty scored his first international goal just three minutes into Thursday night’s game against Türkiye, putting the Americans ahead 1-0 on a corner kick at Los Angeles Stadium.
This goal was the second fastest goal scored by the United States from the first kick in World Cup history.

This also moved the United States one step closer to a perfect group stage campaign. The Americans entered Thursday looking for a third straight win after beating Paraguay 4-1 and losing 2-0 to Australia in their first two games.
Christian Pulisic started the group stage final on the bench but was available as a substitute. The USMNT star has been nursing a left calf injury since suffering a knock on June 10.

However, US leadership was short-lived. Arda Güler found the back of the net in the 10th minute and with Orkun Kökçü’s shot in the 31st minute, Türkiye took the lead 2-1 in the first half.
