The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has announced a crackdown on illegal peptides, calling unregulated drugs “”primary focus area“Due to the increase in imports and online advertising.

The watchdog’s other primary areas of focus include melatonin, medical marijuana and weight loss medications.
TGA chief, Professor Anthony Lawlerin question:
As the availability of unapproved peptide products increases, so does evidence of potential risks to consumers.
The TGA’s escalating response to the import, supply or production of illegal peptides will include product seizures, infringement notifications, import interventions and regulatory penalties.
The announcement follows a joint operation between the TGA, Australian Border Force and Victoria police in April. $2 million worth was seized illegal steroids and peptides.
Although the peptides are not approved for human use, influencers are telling their audiences that injectable peptides are a new “shine elixir” for everything from back pain to chronic urinary tract infection.
