Australian actor Terence Donovan dies aged 90

Australian actor and former Neighbors star Terence Donovan has died at the age of 90.
Donovan’s son and Australian small screen star Jason shared the news of his father’s death on Sunday.
“It is with great sadness but also a sense of celebration of a long and full life that my brother Paul and I announce that our father Terence passed away peacefully last night here in Melbourne,” he wrote on social media.
“Our father was a huge character, larger than life.
“He was our best friend… our world!
“We will miss him greatly, but we take comfort in knowing that we are all with him in his final days.”

Donovan was born in London in 1935 and moved to Australia with his family when he was 14, before becoming a star of stage and screen.
His big break came when he was offered the role of Detective Mick Peters in Episode 4, a role he played from 1969 to 1975.
He starred in Australian classics Break Morant and The Man from Snowy River.
He appeared in the TV series Prisoner, Sons and Daughters, A Country Practice and The Flying Doctors, and played the role of Al Simpson in the TV series Home and Away.
From 1990 to 1994, he was a part of the main cast of Neighbors as Doug Willis.
On Terence’s 90th birthday last year, Jason paid tribute to his father on social media, calling him his “hero”.
“You always put me higher than yourself,” Jason said.
“You always wanted me to do better than you.
“I can’t think of anyone else who wants me to be successful both professionally and personally…
“You are the best friend, the wingman, the biggest critic.”
