Australian Motocross racer Joel Evans’ baby born five months after death

The fiancée of Australian motocross champion Joel Evans has announced the birth of the couple’s first child, five months after the elite rider died in a horrific crash.

Mr. Evans’ fiancée, Michaela Evans, announced the birth of their baby boy, Freddy Jae, who was born on October 3.

“He’s the perfect blend of love, strength and his daddy glow. With all his hair and chubbyness,” she said.

The Queensland driver had an accident at a track near Port Adelaide in April and later died in hospital.

He was competing in the elite division of the ProMX Championship event, which was canceled following the crash.

A message posted on Mr Evans’ official Facebook page following his death said the 30-year-old was expecting to become a father.

“We have lost the most incredible person in this world. The most unique, loved and kind-hearted soul,” the message read.

“He loved this sport, which gave him great happiness, and he devoted his life to this sport and did it until the end. We are very grateful for the love and support he showed to our beautiful man.

“He is a beloved partner, uncle, brother, friend and son, but he is also a proud father to our beloved little boy who will join us in October.”

Fellow motocross champion Jay Wilson welcomed the week-old baby’s arrival and said he was happy for Ms Evans.
