Cow To Be Declared ‘State Mother’ In Chhattisgarh: CM

Raipur: Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that the state will soon grant ‘Mother of the State’ status to the cow.

He said the proposal would be submitted to the state cabinet for approval very soon.

The move is in line with the Maharashtra government’s decision to declare the cow as ‘Rajyamata Gomata’ (State Mother Cow) in 2024, the Chief Minister said while addressing a religious gathering here late on Wednesday evening.

The state government will formulate guidelines in consultation with experts, spiritual leaders and legal leaders to implement the decision, the official said.

He described this move as a reflection of the state’s cultural roots and spiritual values.

Lord Ram’s mother, Mata Kaushalya, was born in Chhattisgarh and ‘our goal is to establish Ram Rajya in this holy land through peace, harmony and faith,’ he added.

He said the move would help protect and preserve indigenous cattle in the state.

Chhattisgarh had earlier given ‘State Animal’ status to wild buffalo and ‘State Bird’ status to hill myna.
