A legal permanent resident of Australia has been arrested after allegedly voting illegally in a federal election in Louisiana, according to authorities.
Denise Nataly Migliore, 51, was charged last month in a four-count indictment with making false statements to register to vote and illegally voting in the election, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana said.
Prosecutors said he knowingly made false claims about his U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections in October 2022 and October 2024.

He allegedly voted in November each of those years after falsely certifying that he was a U.S. citizen and eligible to vote.
Migliore could not vote because he was not a US citizen.
On July 1, Homeland Security Investigations arrested Migliore at the federal courthouse in New Orleans following an investigation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

“This alien from Australia faces federal charges for falsely claiming to be a U.S. citizen and voting illegally in two elections,” DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Lauren Bis said in a statement. “His arrest and charges are the result of the hard work of the men and women of ICE law enforcement and our federal partners.
“Our message to aliens voting in American elections is clear: We will find you, we will arrest you, and you will face consequences, including criminal charges and deportation. Only Americans should elect American leaders.”

If convicted, Migliore faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison followed by three years of supervised release. He also faces a fine of up to $250,000 and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.
