In a likely sign of the times, RIL’s new hires down by 90k in FY26

The media and entertainment business had 10,295 employees; this was down 8% from 11,186 employees in FY25. The oil-to-chemical industry, one of the oldest businesses, employed 28,051 people in FY26 and 29,985 in FY25; this figure was a decrease of over 6%. However, the retail sector showed a workforce growth of 17%, from 2,47,782 employees in FY25 to 2,90,293 at the end of March 2026.
