Athletics prospect Ryan Lasko says he is improving after spinal injury

The Athletics’ No. 18 prospect, Ryan Lasko, is recovering after fracturing his C6-C7 vertebrae.
Lasko was injured during a scary collision in a match earlier this month. While playing center field for Double-A Midland, Lasko and right fielder Devin Taylor collided while heading for the ball in space.
Lasko, 24, remained on the ground for 10 minutes before leaving the field in a horse-drawn carriage and heading to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano, where he underwent surgery.

But Lasko said he was “feeling much better” after having no feeling in his legs earlier this week.
“I have a feeling as well as a lot of involuntary leg movements from my feet to my knees. I also get some sensation in the sides of my thighs, hamstrings, and back,” Lasko wrote on social media.
Lasko said he “uses about 75% of my left hand and about 50% of my right hand.”

“I am so happy with my progress and once again grateful for all the love and support. It has continued to help me get up and do my best every day,” she added.
Lasko is one of the Athletics’ top prospects and enters the season as the team’s 18th prospect, according to MLB Pipeline. He was taken in the second round by the Athletics in the 2023 MLB Draft.
Lasko, who opened the season in Double-A, managed to move to Triple-A Las Vegas last season.
This year Lasko is batting .209/.275/.360 with six home runs, five triples and 34 RBIs.
