A Missouri man has battled the city over his sunflowers for 4 years — says he won’t ‘quit this fight.’ Here’s the issue
Chris Bank has been growing his award -winning sunflowers for years, and his apparently harmless hobby attracted him against his local government in a war he could not solve.

An annual war on flowers
Every year, the St. Peters City building department controls all the property in the city. St. The rules specified in the St. Peters Regulation in 8025 state that “any pool, asphalt surface or pavement will consist of at least fifty percent (50%) grass grass”.
And since 2022, Chris Bank has been fighting the department on the humble sunflower bed. What began as an annual tradition turned into a headache.

Bank said, “50% was still there, but it was up to his comments,” Bank said. “If it looks more than 50%, it was good enough – that’s good.”
He objected and the case withdrew the city charges just before he reached a jury.
“I probably knew something wasn’t right,” he said. “He wouldn’t have the chance to solve all this in front of a jury and end with all sunflower states because St. Peters took out.”
In addition, the Bank also reported that someone had cut dozens of sunflowers. He caught the events in the tape and shared video evidence and receipts for the damages related to the police, but said that prosecutors never accused.
Sunflower is now a crop?
The city recently revised its rules, re -classified sunflower as a crop, and limited its existence to 10% of the front garden.

What does the city say?
“St. Peters, friendly neighbors, safe neighborhoods, wonderful schools, a developing business climate, beautiful parks, tracks and many other activities that contribute to the best quality of life,” said Len Pagano, Mayor of St. Peters.
As for the bank, there is no plan for the sun to sink into the beloved flowers.
