Telangana to host Khelo India Youth Games

New Delhi: Telangana will host the 2026 edition of the Khelo India Youth Games, Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced on Wednesday.

KIYG is likely to take place in November. Bihar hosted the previous edition in May last year.

“In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of expanding major national events to all parts of the country, it will be appropriate that Telangana gets the opportunity to host the prestigious Khelo India Youth Games.
“The state has the infrastructure and enthusiasm to host these Games, where at least 8,000 athletes, officials and support staff are expected to participate,” Mandaviya said.

The Bihar edition saw athletes participating in 28 sports. At KIYG 2025, 26 records were broken in weightlifting, 13 of which were national youth records. The rest were meet records and were all related to athletics.
