Ayan’s Super 10 And Mandeep’s Cutch Raid Helps Patna Pirates Clinch Tie-Breaker Against Bengaluru Bulls

Patna Pirates secured a thrilling tiebreaker (6-4) against Bengaluru Bulls after the two teams were deadlocked at 38-38 at the end of normal time at the Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on Thursday.

Ayan Lohchab continued his lead with Super 10, while Navdeep also contributed with four steals. The most important contribution in breaking the tie came from Mandeep Kumar’s two-point raid. For the Bulls, Alireza’s ninth Super 10 was in vain despite them staging an eleven-point comeback in regulation time.

Two raiders – Ayan and Alireza – opened the scoring for their side. Sanjay scored his first tackle of the night and Ashish Birwal hit back for Pirates and neither team conceded an inch. Sudhakar M and Akash Shinde also left their mark on their side with an interesting start as Bengaluru Bulls took an 8-7 lead after the first ten minutes.

Defenders began to take control in the second quarter of the game. While Deepak Sankar made his presence felt in defence, Navdeep’s Super Tackle did the same for his side. Ankit Rana came on and Pirates took a four-point lead through Ankit Jaglan’s intervention.

In a sly encounter, Ayan and Alireza traded blows with both raiders scoring seven points in the first half. The first allowed his team to take a three-point lead at halftime, 16-13.

Patna Pirates started the second half aggressively and took the responsibility of putting pressure on their opponents. While Navdeep made a crucial intervention in the Do-Or-Die Raid, Ayan continued to do his best to help his side score the first ALL OUT of the game and put his side in the driver’s seat.

Ankit Rana then launched a two-point raid to increase the lead to eleven points. 27-16. Ayan, like Alireza Mirzaian, completed his Super 10 and Alireza Mirzaian kept the Bengaluru Bulls in the hunt despite the scoreline being 28-18 with less than ten minutes to go.

Within six minutes the Bulls responded to courtesy raids from Alireza, Aashish Malik and Ganesha Hanamantagol. After the Bulls defense narrowed the gap to five points, Alireza made the ALL OUT move to get his team back into contention with a score of 30-28 with less than three minutes left.

Alireza then equalized the score for the Bulls and put an end to the game. Entering his penultimate raid in the game, Ayan executed a successful Do-Or-Die Raid to open a two-point lead. Alireza then responded with a lightning fast raid, pushing the Patna Pirates for one final raid.

Ayan, who was chasing a victory, could not complete the match in normal time. He was defeated by Manish in the final raid and was forced into a tiebreaker after the two teams tied 38-38.

In a tense tiebreaker, Sudhakar and Aashish Malik opened the scoring for their side. Mandeep Kumar’s two-point raid gave Patna Pirates a significant advantage and from then on they did not look back. Despite registering an 11-point comeback in normal time, Ayan and Deepak Singh put the finishing touches to ensure Patna Pirates emerged victorious 6-4.
