CBI Coordinates Return of Wanted AP Fugitive from UEA through INTERPOL

Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) successfully coordinated the return of Anil Kumar Reddy Yeddula, for whom a red notice was issued from the UAE, through INTERPOL channels.

Reddy is wanted by the Andhra Pradesh police on charges of cheating, breach of trust and intimidation.

The International Police Cooperation Unit (IPCU), in collaboration with the CBI, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and NCB-Abu Dhabi, successfully brought Reddy back to India on Thursday. Reddy was accompanied by a Dubai police team and arrived at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad from Dubai. Reddy was handed over to the Andhra Pradesh police team at the airport.

Reddy was wanted by the Andhra Pradesh police in a series of cases registered against him for alleged cheating, breach of trust and criminal intimidation. CBI received the red notice issued through INTERPOL in this case on September 5, 2022, on the request of Andhra Pradesh police.

Reddy was arrested by UAE authorities and ordered to be extradited to India. Red notices issued by INTERPOL were distributed to all law enforcement agencies around the world to track wanted criminals. As the National Headquarters of INTERPOL in India, CBI coordinates with all law enforcement agencies in India through BHARATPOL for assistance through INTERPOL channels.

More than 130 wanted criminals have been brought back to India through INTERPOL channels in the last few years.
