Baby among EIGHT kids shot dead as cops chase gunman on rampage through quiet Louisiana neighborhood

The tragedy unfolded early Sunday morning when a man opened fire in a quaint Louisiana neighborhood, killing eight young children.

At least 10 people were shot and eight teenage victims died after the Shreveport Police Department was called to a report of a domestic disturbance just after 6 a.m.

Police said the youngest victim was 18 months old and the oldest was 14 years old.

Two adult women survived the bloody incident, while a young boy who jumped from the roof was injured. KTB reported.

The suspect, an adult male, was shot and killed at the scene in Bossier Parish in Shreveport.

Police spokesman Christopher Bordelon stated that the crime scene was “quite large” and that the incident occurred between two houses in the area and a third house nearby.

The assailant, whose name has not yet been released, was fatally shot by police at the third property after committing a carjacking and leading officers on a chase, Bordelon said.

“We believe he was the only person who opened fire on these places here,” he added.

Bordelon said the suspect’s name will be released, but the relatives of the victims should be notified first.

He said some of the children in the house were “his grandchildren” but did not give further details.

Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux solemnly addressed the community shaken by the attack.

The investigation is still ongoing.
