Baffled Bristol neighbours mock ‘ridiculous’ fence across living room window | UK | News

Neighbors were left stunned after a massive garden fence was erected directly opposite the living room window. The substantial wood panels completely blocked the view from the inside after being placed just 14 inches from the property.
The residence in Bristol is currently vacant but workers were seen building on the property this week. It is believed that the fence was installed to protect the house and separate it from the parking area. But one neighbor said: “When I first saw the fence I thought like everyone else who saw it – I mean what were they thinking?
“It completely blocks the living room window from all light and view.
“Someone described it as a daylight robbery, which made me laugh!”
The property, with a sturdy fence built outside the living room window, is located in Bristol Lockleaze.
The neighbor added: “The house is currently vacant.
“Then a fence was put up in front of the window because there was a gap between the house and the driveway that a small child could fall into, but it blocked the window.
“All it really needed was a few rails and natural light could still enter the house.
“The only reason I can think of is that there is a gap between the house and the parking lot where a child could fall, but a wire fence would definitely stop that possibility and still allow natural light to come in through the window.”
Another neighbor said: “This job was probably a computer generated job, the worrying thing is that the person who took the job paper did it without asking any questions or using common sense to consider that it wasn’t right.”
A local worker noted that a fall would be considered a serious hazard and there would be increasing pressure on housing providers to respond to hazards such as falling off walls.
Many people took to social media to mock the fence.
One wrote: “Oh my god this is beyond stupid!”
Another said: “This is ridiculous, surely the person who came up with this must have questioned it?
“They must have some common sense!”
Another said: “I’d pull him down in a heartbeat. This sounds like a daylight robbery to me!”
There was speculation that the property was owned by Bristol City Council, but the authority confirmed that the property was not owned by the council.
