Balcony collapse horror near University of Cincinnati as students plunge from 3rd floor while celebrating exams

Ten people were injured when the third-floor balcony of an apartment building near the University of Cincinnati collapsed Friday night.
Students were celebrating the end of a major exam when the devastating crash occurred around 10 p.m.
The balcony was 20 ft above the parking lot when it broke through the side of the building.
Cincinnati Fire Department spokesperson Lindsay Lomax confirmed to the Daily Mail that they transported ten students to local hospitals.
One of the victims had ‘critical injuries’ while the other five had serious but non-threatening injuries.
The remaining injured were slightly injured.
First aid to the injured was given by medical teams who arrived at the scene. According to People.

Officials said the balcony may have collapsed due to the weight of too many people.
Authorities contacted Hamilton County Buildings and Codes to determine the exact cause.
‘The argument on the ground was about the weight of the balcony,’ Lomax said.
None of the victims were identified.
“We know students were involved,” Lomax said, but the number has not yet been confirmed.
The apartment building is not connected to campus but still houses many University of Cincinnati students.
When the balcony collapsed, empty alcohol cans and cigarette cartons also fell to the ground. According to The Enquirer.

A representative from the Cincinnati Fire Department told the New York Times that university housing services and grief counseling are available to assist victims.
