According to court documents and a statement cited by prosecutors, Bradburn called 911 on June 25, 2024, and reported that he had shot his father as he returned home from a trip to Hawaii.

He told officers her body was in the foyer of their Northwest Spokane home and that he would wait for police outside.

“The evidence … demonstrated extreme and elaborate planning,” said Deputy Prosecutor Emily Sullivan.

Prosecutors had sought a higher sentence of 320 months plus a 60-month firearms enhancement, arguing that his own father’s murder, combined with the level of planning, made the case particularly disturbing.

“Unfortunately, the crime with which Ms. Bradburn decided to begin her criminal history is the most significant and serious crime we have,” McKay said at sentencing.

In addition to the prison sentence, Bradburn will remain on community probation for 36 months, must pay restitution for his father’s death, and will be permanently banned from contacting his brother.

The judge acknowledged the devastation suffered by the family, stating that no sentence could compensate for this loss.

Bradburn’s legal team declined to comment on the sentence or the change in his appearance.
