Bandi challenges Revanth to back Gen Z push with Cabinet berths

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Sunday hit back at Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy over his proposal to lower the minimum age limit to contest Assembly and Lok Sabha elections from 25 to 21, pushing him to first induct Generation Z leaders into the State Cabinet.

Addressing the media at Shamshabad Airport, Mr. Sanjay said if the Prime Minister is serious about empowering the young generation, he should reserve the ministerial berth for leaders in the 21-30 age group instead of just advocating constitutional amendments.

The BJP leader also demanded that the State government, if it truly wants to provide more political representation to the youth, should ask members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) to resign and nominate Gen Z leaders in their place.

Claiming that the Home, Education and Municipal Administration portfolios are yet to be filled, Mr. Sanjay Kumar urged the Chief Minister to entrust these departments to young leaders.

He was quick to attack Congress, questioning whether senior leaders were being portrayed as representatives of Generation Z. He alleged that the Congress has a history of appointing older leaders to posts meant for the youth.
