Bandi Sanjay’s son lodges police complaint against three of a family for black-mailing

KARIMNAGAR
Bandi Sai Bageerath, son of Union Home Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, filed a complaint with the Karimnagar Two Towns police on Saturday, alleging criminal intimidation, extortion, criminal conspiracy and harassment by three persons, including a couple and their daughter.
Based on his complaint, the police registered a case under Sections 308 (5), 351 (2), 61 (2) r/w 3 (5) of the BNS and initiated investigation.
In his complaint, Mr. Bageerath claimed that he contacted the girl through a mutual friend.
“Under the guise of friendship and social togetherness, they invited me and my friends to family events, group gatherings and spiritual places,” he said.
“Believing them to be trustworthy and part of a larger circle of friends, I traveled with them and other friends to the Vijayawada temple, Arunachalam and Tirumala temples as part of the group of friends,” he added.
“After some time, his behavior changed and his family called me and started pressuring and intimidating me to marry their daughter. When I refused, they threatened to file a false criminal case against me. Out of fear, I gave ₹50,000 to his father. But they were not satisfied and demanded more of ₹5 crore,” he said in his complaint.
He called for a fair and thorough investigation into “acts of intimidation, attempted extortion and false implication”.
In his complaint, he said that a few of his friends also had a similar problem with the trio and had earlier lodged a complaint against them at Nirmal police station on April 21, for which an FIR was registered in this regard.
