Miss Israel receives death threats after Miss Universe video controversy

Miss Israel Melanie Shiraz says she was bombarded with death and rape threats following allegations of a potential sexual encounter edited video A photo showing him glaring at Miss Palestine during the Miss Universe pageant has gone viral.
The 27-year-old actress explained how the abuse began just hours after the video went viral and people began to think she had given Nadeen Ayoub a dirty look on stage during the show in Bangkok, Thailand.
“I don’t know if this footage was edited or not, but it was definitely edited and cropped and put together to at least make it look like I was the only person looking that way,” he told Fox News Digital.
“My social media was flooded with hate comments and there were clips from this video where it looked like I was standing next to him.

“At first I thought it was AI or something, then I realized it was coming from a different camera with a very skewed perspective.”
Shiraz maintained that he expected “he will be subject to a lot of hatred and intense scrutiny just because he is a representative of Israel, but this should not lead to Hitler’s comments and death threats.”
“That’s exactly what I’m getting,” he said, before describing the harassment as graphic and disturbing.
“It’s come down to this: I want to rape you and kill you, or I hope you end up like one of those hostages who gets raped and shot in the head,” she said.
“I took it saying ‘Die, you filthy Jew.’ “I don’t want to be too graphic, and it’s jarring.”

“I realized that I was very passionate about advocacy,” she said. “I became heavily involved in the Jewish community and Israel advocacy on campus and realized that a cultural scene like this could give a human voice to Israel and that we are often only seen through a political lens,” he added.
The controversy in Bangkok also emerged after Ayoub posted several photos from the event online after a demonstration.
“He also posted eight photos, all of which featured me,” Shiraz recalled.

“These obviously weren’t good photos of me and me looking in that direction or looking like that direction.
“I asked him to take it down and he only took down one or two photos but not all.”
“During the competition, I noticed a particular cameraman was focusing right on her, and I was right behind her,” she said. “I also noticed that the cameraman was only pointing at her, and therefore at me, and there seemed to be some kind of communication going on between them, which surprised me.”
Despite the abuses, Shiraz remains determined. “It is very, very difficult to be Jewish and Israeli in this day and age, no matter what we do we will get hate for it,” he said.

“This just reinforces to me that what I’m doing right now is important and that I shouldn’t be distracted, I just need to be motivated.”
The 74th Miss Universe competition, featuring 121 contestants, continues in Thailand with the grand final to be held on Friday, November 21.

“I am very passionate about representing Israel and after this competition I hope to leave my past and make defending Israel and good causes my life’s work,” he said. “I go out every day and put my best foot forward, and sometimes it feels like no matter what I do, it won’t be enough to get me into some people’s hearts… But of course that won’t stop me from putting my best foot forward.”
