Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) general secretary (policy and propaganda) and Health and Family Welfare Minister KG Arunraj on Thursday made it clear that instructions have been given to officials from the party’s top command that only elected representatives can go on inspections.

Dr. Arunraj’s comments came after a woman claiming to be part of the party’s health wing claimed to have “inspected” the Government Hospital in Sankarankovil, which sparked strong criticism. The minister said instructions have been given to party workers in this regard from party president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay and general secretary and Rural Development and Water Resources Minister N. Anand.
