Barry Manilow shares health update from hospital after cancer surgery

Shortly after sharing his cancer diagnosis, Barry Manilow updated fans on his health.
In an Instagram photo shared on Friday, the 82-year-old singer lay in a hospital bed wearing a green hospital gown with a smile on her face, captioning the post: “Today is Better!” he captioned it.
Fans were happy to see the “Copacabana” singer doing better, and many sent her love and positive wishes in the comments section.
“We love you Barry!! God is good! Can’t wait to see you again soon.”

“I’ve loved you for 50 years, Barry! My heart skipped a beat when I heard you were sick,” another said. “I’m so glad to see you’re doing well and recovering.”
Manilow first shared that he had a cancerous spot in his lungs in an Instagram post he shared in late December.

He explained that after “six weeks of bronchitis and a recurrence for another five weeks,” his doctors erred on the side of caution, ordering more tests and finding a more serious condition.
“Even though I had recovered from my bronchitis and was back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI to make sure everything was OK. The MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needed to be removed. It’s pure luck (and a great doctor) that this was found so early. That’s good news.”

“The bad news is that now that the ‘Christmas is the Gift of Love’ concerts are over, I’m going to have surgery to have the spot removed,” he continued. “Doctors don’t believe it’s spread, so I run tests to confirm the diagnosis. That’s it. No chemo. No radiation. Just chicken soup and reruns of ‘I Love Lucy.'”
He apologized to all fans who had previously purchased tickets, telling them that he was “looking forward to the January shows as much as they did” and that he “hated” them.[s] I have to move everything.”

Manilow is known for hit songs such as “I Write Songs” and “I Can’t Smile Without You” NBC News He didn’t think his biggest hit “Copacabana” would come to this in April 2024. He explained that he and his then-co-producer Ron Duarte “never thought it would get played on the radio.”

“But when there were discos, we took him to the disco and asked the DJ to play,” Manilow said. “And everyone ran onto the dance floor and started dancing like it was the 1940s. They were dipping the girls and it was all because it was ‘Copa’. So I said to Ron: ‘We might be onto something in this.’ It later turned out to be the most popular song in my catalogue.”
