Baruipur rape-murder case: Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari meets victim’s family

Adhikari met the girl’s parents at the Superintendent of Police (SP) office in Baruipur police district and assured them that stringent action would be taken against the criminals responsible. Senior police officers were also present at the meeting.
On Monday, Adhikari had said that the accused would face the death penalty.

He also expressed that the victim’s family has confidence in the government.
The body of the girl, who had been missing for a day, was found in Surjyapur Haat area on Sunday, sparking protests from locals. Protesters blocked the Baruipur-Joynagar Road, set tires on fire and damaged several police vehicles while demanding the arrest of those responsible.
Hours after the girl’s body was found on Sunday, a man was beaten to death by an angry mob on suspicion of his involvement in her death.
Three people have been arrested in connection with the crime and the state government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the incident.
