Beartooth frontman Caleb Shomo comes out as ‘proudly gay man’ while his wife of 13 years breaks her silence

Caleb Shomo, lead singer of rock band Beartooth, came out as gay in a candid and heartfelt post on Saturday.

The 33-year-old rock musician made the comments on Instagram amid much speculation about his sexuality. [his] personal life.”

Shortly after, his wife of 13 years, actress Fleur Shomo (née Terry), who starred in medical drama The Pitt, shared a statement on her social media page, supporting Caleb while also discussing their ‘confusing and hurtful’ split.

Caleb wrote a lengthy message to his 213,000 Instagram followers, beginning by touching on “something I’ve been unpacking and reckoning with in my life for a long time.”

‘I feel like I need to set the record straight before it further impacts my loved ones,’ he wrote. ‘I am a proud gay man.’

He later admitted that it was ‘difficult’ for him to ‘navigate the emotions surrounding the subject and figure out what to do with that fact’.

Shortly afterwards, his wife of 13 years, Fleur Shomo, penned a message of support while also describing their ‘confusing and hurtful’ split.

The couple got married in 2012 and were together for about two years before getting married. They have no children together.

In his statement, Caleb explained that he “always puts the ‘deepest part of my soul’ into his art and music.”

He then thought about the four people who ‘undervalued him so much’. [Beartooth] Albums he created before his release.

Caleb has stated that his past music explores his ‘religious upbringing, his depression, his self-loathing, his self-loathing, and his despair.’

He said he would express [himself] wholeheartedly and completely in the music of his upcoming album.

‘I’m grateful for all these albums, but sometimes I feel ashamed that I didn’t allow myself to delve into my roots for so long.

‘I spent ten years burying my feelings with alcohol and honestly, when I decided to put that aside and focus on exploring why I felt that way for so long, it became a direct path for me to come to terms with my sexuality in the hope that it would allow me to finally experience self-love,’ she added.

Caleb said he’s ‘ultimately trying to be proud of who I am, and I think that’s a big part of this journey.’

In his statement, Caleb stated that his past music explores his ‘religious upbringing, depression, self-loathing, self-loathing, and despair’.

He also admitted he ‘spent ten years burying his feelings with alcohol’ before ‘making peace with my sexuality’

He concluded his statement by sharing his gratitude to his supporters and sent an encouraging message to people who are “struggling with who they are,” asking them to “give.” [themselves] grace’

While Caleb did not mention their marriage in his statement, Fleur pointed out the ‘fun, adventure and love’ they have had together for more than ten years.

She also shared an encouraging message to other people, asking them to ‘be honest’ and ‘put in the hard work instead of burying it deep down physically thinking it will change like me.’

“Keeping these things inside will only hurt you and those around you,” Caleb added. ‘I love you all and I hope this is a step in the right direction for me to love myself one day.’

Just hours after Caleb shared his heartfelt statement, his wife Fleur penned a message of support while also opening up about their ‘confusing and hurtful’ split.

‘I’m really not sure how you’re going to start this case, do I need to say anything? “But I think I’ll get right to the point,” Fleur began.

He admitted: ‘The past few months have been a very confusing and hurtful time to navigate. For both of us.”

She later emphasized that she would ‘always want to love, protect and support Caleb.’ ‘For years I cared about his well-being more than anything else in the world.’

She described her husband’s ‘confusion and pain’ before going out and that he ‘wanted to help but didn’t know how’.

Five hours after Caleb’s post, his wife Fleur broke her silence with her own statement

She shared that she supported Caleb coming out and described her feelings about the “duality of this situation.”

He acknowledged the ‘confusion and pain’ he experienced during the ‘most difficult time of his life’ [his] He said he felt similarly because he had “lost everything” while simultaneously trying to support his life.

He candidly described the ‘isolation’ he experienced and said that his ‘mental health was deteriorating’ because he ‘couldn’t talk to people about it’.

At the end of her statement, she honored their “wonderful” love story and said their marriage was “over.”

He shared a positive message about what he will ‘focus on’ in the future

She said she would continue to “love, protect and support” Caleb and delivered an encouraging message to “everyone” like him. [else] ‘This is happening in the world’

He admitted that he would ask [herself] constantly if [she was] A bad person wondering what this means for your world and also for the anger you feel.’

‘I’m the only one having to deal with the duality of this situation,’ he wrote. ‘It was incredibly difficult to understand supporting him when he was losing everything.’

Fleur later added: ‘You can love and support him through the hardest time of your life, while being completely devastated and losing yourself at the same time.’

He said he ‘won’t ask questions’ [their] while honoring their love story and at the same time suffering the pain of its ending.

‘I’ve always wanted nothing more than for Caleb to be happy,’ she wrote. ‘Trying to help him get through this without having any idea what he would do was a learning curve we never expected to experience together.

He also admitted to experiencing ‘isolation’ and said his ‘mental health suffered’ because he channeled his emotions privately ‘because it wasn’t a story for me to share’.

‘Our marriage of nearly 14 years was wonderful and filled with so much fun, adventure and love. “No one will know anything about our marriage like we do,” he added.

‘And no one can truly know how deep love exists between two people unless they are there.’

Before revealing his coming out story, Caleb explained that he “always” puts “the deepest part of my soul” into his art and music.

“I hope everyone in the world going through this finds hope and courage, and I hope fans can continue to support Caleb,” he wrote before concluding his statement.

Going forward, he said, ‘I will continue to live my life trying to focus on what I can control and achieve what I want to achieve.’ And if I just keep saying hello to as many dogs as possible along the way, I’m sure things will get better little by little, day by day, piece by piece, bird by bird.’
