Bedford train crash LIVE: ‘Two trains collide’ on Bedford to Luton line – ‘do not travel’ | UK | News

Police say two trains collided in the Bedford area. Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue crews are attending the scene just south of Bedford and a number of air ambulances and 999 crews have reportedly been sent to the scene. Footage widely circulated on social media showed two trains colliding with emergency workers and what appeared to be railway workers on the tracks.

British Transport Police said shortly before 6.45pm: “We are responding to reports of a collision involving two trains in the Bedford area. We will share further information as soon as possible.” Thameslink urged people not to travel on the Bedford-Luton line and said “the issue is being investigated.” Initial reports suggested some passengers “may have sustained serious injuries” following the collision, but authorities have yet to comment.
