Bedford triple murder suspect arrested by South African police

South African police say they have arrested a man on suspicion of killing his wife and two daughters near Bedford.

Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, 42, Natalie, 15, and Nala, 5, were found dead at the family home in Great Denham on Monday.

Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, a Zimbabwean national, left the country two days ago via Heathrow Airport with a British passport.

But the 45-year-old man was previously arrested in Kensington, Johannesburg, and the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has since said it had authorized three murder charges against him.

South African police spokeswoman Athlenda Mathe said the arrest was a “stern warning” that the country was not a “hideout” for suspected criminals.

Speaking to reporters, the woman said, “We will follow you, we will find you and we will arrest you.”
