Belfast victim Stephen Ogilvie’s family issue major update on his condition | UK | News

The family of Stephen Ogilvie, who was injured in a horrific stabbing attack in Belfast on Monday, have issued an important update on his condition as unrest continues to grip the city.
His family, speaking through police, acknowledged that there was a significant amount of misinformation circulating on social media platforms.
In a statement released by the PSNI, they said: “It now forces us to clarify that our loved one is in a stable condition and our sole focus at this time is on his recovery.”
The family also appealed: “We are also appealing to the media and the public to please give us some space. We need privacy to focus on our family right now, without cameras or people speculating about what is going on via social media.”
The family also condemned the spread of misinformation on social media as “deeply regrettable” and called for it to stop immediately.
They pleaded with those responsible for the violence to stop and declared they were “disgusted” by the recent unrest.
Stephen Ogilvie, 44, reportedly lost an eye as a result of the attack in north Belfast on Monday evening.
Hadi Alodid, a 30-year-old Sudanese man, was brought to court in connection with the attack.
