Bengaluru-based CloudSEK becomes first Indian cybersecurity firm to get investment from a US state fund

Bengaluru-based Cyber ​​Security company CloudSEK announced on Tuesday that it has raised $10 million (approx. 90 crore from Connecticut Innovations, the strategic venture capital arm of the State of Connecticut in the US).

In the statement made by the company, it was stated that with this investment, CloudSEK will be the first Indian cyber security company to receive funding from a US state-backed venture fund.

CloudSEK had previously raised $19 million in a Series B1 round and has now completed its Series B round with this B2 tranche, which consists of a mix of primary and secondary capital.

CloudSEK co-founder and CEO Rahul Sasi said the investment not only strengthens the company’s global trajectory but also symbolizes the rise of Indian cybersecurity innovation on the world stage.

“We have raised USD 10 million from Connecticut Innovations, the venture capital arm of the State of Connecticut. Being the first India-based cybersecurity company to receive support from a US government fund is a milestone for both CloudSEK and the entire Indian cybersecurity ecosystem,” Sasi said in a statement. he said.

The predictive cyber threat intelligence firm raised funding at an enterprise valuation of close to $200 million. With this round, the company has raised approximately US$39 million to date.

Sasi said, “We will use the new funds obtained from Connecticut Innovations to create jobs in the USA and expand our presence there. We have a team of 5 people in the USA, we will increase this number to 15 by March and to approximately 20 people in the next 12-18 months. These jobs are for very high-paying and very high-level talent.” he said.

The company has 20 customers in the U.S. and hopes to reach 200 customers in the next 12 months, he said.

Founded in 2015 by cybersecurity researcher-turned-entrepreneur Rahul Sasi, CloudSEK has grown from a research-focused startup to one of the world’s most trusted cyber threat intelligence platforms, serving more than 300 organizations across BFSI, healthcare, technology and government sectors.

Today, CloudSEK has around 250 employees across various markets and plans to grow that number to 300 by March, with a 200-member team in India.
