Bengaluru court re-issues non-bailable warrant against actor Prakash Raj

A Bengaluru court has re-issued a non-bailable arrest warrant (NBW) against multilingual actor Prakash Raj for allegedly having his name featured in four different electoral rolls in three states, including Karnataka.

NBW was republished on June 12 based on a petition by a city-based lawyer K. Dilip Kumar.

According to court papers, this was NBW’s third dismissal against the actor. He had issued a summons through the Commissioner of Police on February 17, 2026. However, the actor could not be found at the address specified in the petition.

While giving the first NBW on March 17, the court said, “It was reported that the defendant vacated the house. The defendant called out that he was not there. Give NBW to the defendant.” The topic was published on April 17, and when the actor did not show up, NBW was re-published.

The third NBW was issued on June 12, 2026, citing that the judge (President) had gone for training. The next hearing date is July 25, 2026.

2019 Lok Sabha elections

The case stems from the actor contesting the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from the Bengaluru Central constituency.

Complainant Kumar, in his petition dated 2023, alleged that Prakash Raj’s name appeared at two places in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Velachary assembly constituency and also in Serilingam Pally Assembly segment in Telangana, besides being registered as a voter in Shantinagar assembly segment in the city.

The complainant stated that he applied to the authorized police station in April 2019, but no action was taken. He later approached the court and the court took up the matter in 2023.

On August 1, 2025, the court said he was being considered “for offenses punishable under Sections 31 and 125(A) of the Representation of the People Act 1950.” He directed the issuance of invitations.

The case has since been heard and a summons has been issued. When the player did not show up, NBWs were published.
