Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has been named one of the world’s most family-friendly airports for 2026.
According to a study conducted by AttractionTickets.com, one of the UK’s leading travel experience providers, KIA has been ranked among the world’s best airports for public transport with children and is one of only two Indian airports to feature in the global list. In the list of top 10 airports for families, KIA was ranked third, while Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport was ranked fourth.
Helsinki is on top
Helsinki-Vantaa Airport was at the top of the list, followed by Singapore Changi Airport and Bahrain International Airport, while KIA ranked third. KIA received 18.6 points out of a maximum of 20.
Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), which operates KIA, said the ranking evaluates airports based on factors such as family-friendly facilities, ease of navigation, entertainment options and overall passenger experience.
He said KIA is known for its focus on creating a more engaging travel environment through initiatives such as India’s first sensory room for neurologically diverse passengers, an inclusive arts program and a range of family-friendly amenities.
How was the data collected?
To compile the Happiest Airports Rankings, experts started with a seed list of more than 140 popular airports, according to AttractionTickets.com. The team collected data across nine key parameters: Google review ratings, dedicated children’s play areas, family safety lanes, baby changing facilities, stroller/stroller rentals, sleep pods and rest zones, quality Wi-Fi for streaming, airport size, and support for neurodivergent families.
“Each location was then given an overall score out of 20, based on performance across all nine data points. These scores formed the basis of the final rankings, revealing which destinations were most likely to reduce pre-holiday stress while also staying well-reviewed and top-of-mind for those planning a foreign holiday. This data was compiled and analyzed in May 2026,” the company said.
