An NFL insider on Sunday sounded the alarm about the increasing pressure on Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s shoulders as the organization enters a new phase.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said on “NFL GameDay Morning” that Tagovailoa may not finish the rest of the 2025 season as the starter.

“From what I understand, the Dolphins have a chance to replace him at quarterback,” Rapoport said. “He’s playing to keep his job right now. He leads the league with 11 tackles; if that continues, don’t be surprised if they go to one of his reserves later in the season.”
Tagovailoa’s backups include Zach Wilson and rookie Quinn Ewers.
The Dolphins lost 28-6 to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night. Lamar Jackson scored four goals in his return to the field.
Tagovailoa was 25/40 with 261 yards and one interception. He was dismissed twice.

This loss led the organization to decide to part ways with general manager Chris Grier. This move could lead to the Dolphins making a series of moves before the NFL trade deadline. But Rapoport said it would take a big package for the team to trade for coveted wide receiver Jaylen Waddle.
Tagovailoa is in his sixth season in Miami. He has 1,779 passing yards and 15 touchdowns this season. He lost star wide receiver Tyreek Hill for the season. Darren Waller, who started warming up as a target, also misses time due to injury.
