Bhangar bomb blast case: NIA identifies arrested ex-Trinamool Congress MLA Saokat Molla as key conspirator

NIA has arrested fugitive former MLA Molla, the investigation agency said on Saturday.
The escaped Mullah was caught in South 24 Parganas district after extensive searches conducted by NIA as part of the investigation.

The explosion occurred on March 19 during the production of crude bombs and caused the death of a bomb manufacturer and the injury of many people.
The fourth accused arrested in the case, the former MLA, was the key conspirator who instructed the other accused to make the bomb, the NIA revealed during the investigation.

The investigation also revealed that Molla (former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Canning Purba) also instructed other accused to tamper with the blast site. In the statement, it was stated that Molla’s arrest came after the capture of another suspect who was carrying the dead and injured people in his Scorpio vehicle after the explosion.

The arrested persons are being interrogated to determine whether there is any additional conspiracy in the case, which the NIA has taken over from the state police on the request of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
