Michael West reports that Labor considered rolling back diesel fuel rebates for major miners and imposing a tax on gas exporters, but both ideas were quickly scrapped. An insider told MWM “We can’t afford another fight with BHP,” he said, recalling the campaign that helped bring down Kevin Rudd in 2010.
