Farmers in West Godavari oppose sub-station project over land price concerns

Horticulture farmers from four mandals have expressed concern over the sharp fall in land prices due to installation of power towers and lines in 11 villages from the proposed substation at Kottapalli village in Ganapavaram mandal of West Godavari district.
In a meeting with farmers of Undi, Bhimavaram, Palakoderu and Ganapavaram on Monday, Joint Collector T. Rahul Kumar Reddy informed that electricity towers and lines will pass through agricultural areas as part of the substation project. Mr. Rahul Kumar assured farmers of better financial compensation for their land.
However, farmers told Mr. Rahul that they would not give up their land as prices would come down in future. Various garden plants are grown on most of the land where electricity towers and lines are proposed to pass.
